Staff

We aim for a high adult to child ratio. At least four staff are present at all sessions. We welcome the extra help of parent volunteers whenever possible. The staff regularly attend training courses to update their educational and professional skills such as Child Protection, Health & Safety and First Aid. All staff are First Aid trained.

Once your child has properly settled into Birchanger Butterfiles, they will be allotted a particular member of staff as their key person. They will observe and note your child’s progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your key worker will make a particular point of getting to know them, though all staff interact with all children. You may like to use your key-worker as a point of contact but please feel free to chat with any staff member about your child at any time.

Every week the key person records your child’s achievements on a secure online Learning Journal, this also includes photographs and comments made by the child.

Parents and carers are encouraged to add comments and photographs of events that happen at home.

As well as Pre-School you are the only person/people to have access to your child’s Learning Journal. With your permission the records are finally passed on to your child’s next school in the form of a report.
